Your appointment time is held specifically for you. Here's everything you need to know about fees, session lengths, direct billing, and how changes or cancellations are handled.

Session Fees

Sessions are available in four lengths — because the work doesn't always fit a standard hour.

Individual Psychotherapy

25-minute session$100
50-minute session$195
80-minute session$300
110-minute session$410

Couples Psychotherapy

50-minute session$250
80-minute session$345

Session Add-Ons

+5 minutes$15
+10 minutes$35
+15 minutes$50

Add-ons can be booked at the time of scheduling if you want a 60, 90, or 125-minute session. Session add-ons booked at the time of scheduling are included in the total booked session fee for cancellation purposes.

If your current arrangement with Ontario Therapy differs from the rates above, that will be confirmed in writing. Questions about fees or accessibility? Just reach out.

Extended Health Benefits & Direct Billing

Registered Psychotherapy is covered under most Extended Health Benefit (EHB) plans — not under OHIP. Direct billing is now available to most major carriers, which means your insurer may be billed directly and you won't need to pay out of pocket and wait for reimbursement.

Typically covered under EHB

  • Registered Psychotherapy (RP)
  • Most employer benefit plans
  • Most private benefit plans
  • Some student plans

Not covered

  • OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan)
  • Some basic employer plans

Not sure what you have? Book a free consultation and we'll confirm your coverage before your first session.

Setting up direct billing

To use direct billing, please confirm your coverage with your insurance provider before your session and let us know you'd like to use it when booking. Bring your insurance information (provider name, policy/group number, policy holder details) to your first session.

Payment is due at the time of service unless direct billing has been confirmed in advance. Outstanding balances may need to be settled before subsequent sessions. Fees are reviewed periodically; you will be notified in writing prior to any changes.

Cancellation & Missed Appointment Policy

Your appointment time is reserved specifically for you. Providing notice when you need to cancel or make changes helps support consistent care for all clients and allows that time to be offered to someone else who needs it.

Appointments cancelled, rescheduled, or shortened with less than 24 hours' notice are considered late cancellations. The following applies within any rolling 12-month period:

First late cancellation Waived — no charge
Second late cancellation $30
Third late cancellation $50
Fourth and subsequent late cancellations Full fee for the booked session
Missed appointment / no-show (no contact received) Full fee for the booked session

Switching to virtual instead of cancelling

Not feeling up to coming in? Switching to a virtual session sidesteps the cancellation fee entirely and keeps the momentum going. Just reach out before your appointment time.

Life happens

Illness, childcare, emergencies, unexpected circumstances — if something comes up, please reach out as early as you can. Exceptions may be made at clinician discretion where appropriate, and no one is going to give you a hard time about real life.

Ongoing attendance concerns

Repeated late cancellations, frequent last-minute rescheduling, or ongoing attendance concerns may be reviewed collaboratively to help support consistency and continuity of care. In these cases, the full session fee may be charged at clinician discretion.

A note on rescheduling

Rescheduling with less than 24 hours' notice counts as a late cancellation under this policy, even if you book a new appointment. If you know you need to change your appointment, earlier is always better.
